What does Bidri mean?

Meaning:

bidri is a zinc-based alloy blackened by an acid paste. Brass or silver inlays are usually added. By extension, the term designates objects made from this alloy, produced mainly by the Mughals. The term comes from the town of Bidar, in Bihar1. Several bidri (including the houka opposite, two betel boxes and a 17th-century tray) can be seen at the Musée du Louvre (Department of Islamic Art, Mughal Art section).
